The 1950s Bowman football cards had influence on the hobby, and the 1991 Bowman cards were inspired by the 50s Bowman.
Resurrected by Topps after a 36 year hiatus, Bowman returned to the football card playing field with a 561-card standard-size set. The cards retain some of the qualities from early Bowman products. As far as layout, the backs resemble those of the 1950s. They are printed in black and green on gray and have a write-up, bio and stats from the previous season. The cards are checklisted alphabetically according to teams. Subsets include Rookie Superstars (1-11), League Leaders (273-283) and Road to Super Bowl XXV (547-557).
Rookie Cards include Alvin Harper, Randal Hill, Derek Loville, Herman Moore, Mike Pritchard, Ricky Watters, and Harvey Williams.
