subsets as well as inserts.
1993 SkyBox X-Men Series 2 Checklist Details
A total of 100 cards make up the 1993 SkyBox X-Men Series 2 checklist. Within these are a handful of subsets that keep things organized.
Super Heroes kicks things off with 36 cards highlighting the mutants fighting for good.
Eighteen Arch-Enemies cards highlight some of the top rivalries found in X-Men comics.
These are done as two-card puzzles that fit together to show them fighting.
Next are Super-Villains and Teams. Finally, the X-Men animated series gets a brief nine-card section.
Although each subset has its own theme, designs don’t change much.
An X2 logo running through the borders is the most notable feature to go along with the comic art.
1993 SkyBox X-Men Series 2 has a few inserts as well.
Nine Gold Foil cards carry the same general design as the base set.
The main difference is that the set’s logo is replaced by an X-Men 30th Anniversary logo done with gold foil.
Three Holithograms take comic illustrations and cast them over top of a hologram background.
Wolverine stars in a more traditional 3-D hologram. This is the most valuable card in the product.
Although this is Series 2, the set’s predecessor doesn’t carry the SkyBox name. That said, it’s the same company. Impel Marketing, the listed manufacturer for the first set (as well as the first Marvel Universe sets and others) changed its name to SkyBox in the spring of 1992. So by the time this set rolled around, Impel had been phased out.
This box comes from a master case stored in climate controlled environment for over 30 years.
